2007 Grammy Awards

February 11th, 2007, Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA - In the vast world of music oriented television award shows, the desire to have a bigger and better show year to year is a drive all producers share. For NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) this usually translates into a Grammy Awards Show featuring larger than life performances including orchestras, choirs and glitzy staging that accompanies the existing award winning band or performer. Now, pack more of those performances into the same time frame as the previous year’s show and you have successfully raised the bar. Raised it, that is, if the show is a success.

The need for these shows to be flawless is what drives Audiotek to obsess on the details and not compromise on the quality of equipment and people that operate behind the scenes. The effort begins months away from the actual load in of the show as ATK plans along with production where the massive, multi clustered PA system will hang in the midst of all the other trussing, lighting and scenic elements throughout the arena. The individual needs of each artist must be calculated in advance to create the mass of stage monitor speakers, personal in-ear monitor systems, microphones and other equipment that will spread across three different performing stages. With the Grammy Awards the need for constant staging and performing is critical to the show’s timely flow. One stage strikes and resets its performers and band while the opposite stage performs. There is no margin for error and the last performance from rehearsal must be recalled by digital mixing systems at both FOH mix and monitors. But it all boils down to the human factor of the people that not only do all of the digital saving and recalling, but the positioning and distributing of the artists’ microphones and monitors, as well. The Grammy Awards also has the industries largest cast of independent audio professionals, all working together to make each performance happen and all counting on ATK’s provided equipment to work without a hitch. This is a performance level all of these industry pros have come to expect from Audiotek. This level is what ATK always reaches for.

The 2007 Grammy Awards will certainly be documented as being flawless. It was again a show full of memorable performances, what NARAS has dubbed “Grammy Moments”. It is these moments, both big and small, that ATK Audiotek is always proud to be a part of.
